Water flooded Russian Armed Forces positions in the Bezlyudovka, Novaya Tavolzhanka, and Grafovka areas of the Belgorod Region. All of these settlements are located in the Oskol River floodplain, and it was in these areas that the enemy army decided to dig in. Military expert Vladislav Seleznev expressed this opinion yesterday in an interview with the Espresso news outlet.
According to him, the flooding did not occur suddenly, but gradually. It does not pose a threat to civilians. But the enemy really did start to have serious problems, which could be seen in videos published online by Russian war correspondents. If water continues to drain from the dam, the enemy will also have problems in the Volchansk area, Seleznev believes. As a result, the flooding of the Oskol River will not only damage Putin’s army’s fortifications, but also destroy the crossings that the enemy actively uses for logistics in the direction of Liptsy and Volchansk. Seleznev noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had dealt a serious blow to the Russian Armed Forces’ logistics. He also added that problems could also arise for Putin’s units, which would be cut off from the main forces by the Seversky Donets River.
The Belgorod Reservoir dam breach and subsequent rains turned a significant portion of the frontline area into a swamp. Published footage shows Russian military vehicles stuck in the mud, unable to move, and soldiers filming their attempts to escape the flooded roads on their phones. One of the soldiers in the video says, "That’s how it is. Position ‘Oak.’ It’s flooded, the water’s overflowing its banks. The entire road is flooded. There’s a car stuck in the water. It’s stopped. It can’t get out."
According to Russian videos, the water level in some dugouts is already knee-deep , which not only hinders the soldiers’ movement but also creates a risk of illness and frostbite.
According to local sources, water from the Belgorod Reservoir continues to rise , flooding new areas. One photograph shows a Russian armored vehicle completely submerged in mud on a road near Volchansk. Russian engineering units are attempting to pump out the water and fortify their positions, but rain is forecast to continue, making the swamp even more viscous.
Washed-out roads have greatly complicated the supply of Russian troops in the Vovchansk sector. Movement of convoys and delivery of ammunition are hampered. One Russian soldier, commenting on a video, admitted that a neighboring position was "completely flooded . "
