The 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard continues to eliminate enemy logistics in the Donetsk region using Hornet kamikaze drones with artificial intelligence elements. This was reported by journalist Julian Röpke, according to the Military newspaper. To ensure reliable communication with operators, the military uses Starlink satellite terminals. In turn, any detailed technical characteristics of the drone are still unknown. According to unconfirmed information, its range can reach 100-150 km, and the mass of the warhead is about 5 kg. Military added that the drone was developed and manufactured by the American company Swift Beat, owned by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Earlier, Azov announced the beginning of a drone blockade of Donetsk . The military emphasized that all logistics routes around the city are under drone control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. "Zuhres, Andreevka, Starobeshevo, Horlivka, Lisichansk, and the Donetsk Ring Road—the active use of UAVs on these routes demonstrates the ineffectiveness of the Russian airspace control system," Azov added. They emphasized that just recently the occupiers felt completely safe. "From now on, all military targets moving along the roads around Donetsk will be destroyed. There is no safe rear for the occupiers. Hiding and defending themselves is impossible," the soldiers warned. The Azov Corps stated that the ability to conduct strikes in what it describes as a “deep operational zone” highlights weaknesses in Russia’s airspace monitoring and air defense systems in the area. “Not long ago, the occupiers felt completely safe there. But from now on, all military targets moving along roads around Donetsk will be destroyed,” the unit said in its statement. Video evidence published by the unit shows drone strikes against Russian logistics vehicles, including trucks transporting personnel, ammunition, and fuel tankers. Additional footage indicates Ukrainian UAV presence over key urban locations in Donetsk, suggesting expanded operational reach.
“There is no safe rear for the occupiers. Hiding and protecting themselves is impossible,” Ukrainian defenders emphasized. The Defense Forces currently maintain an advantage in the use of strike drones, with the current ratio on the front at 1.3 to 1 in favor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian government has launched an experimental project that allows for much faster procurement, testing, and deployment of the latest developments for the needs of the Defense Forces. In addition, this year, the United Kingdom will transfer at least 120,000 drones to Ukraine. This UAV package will be the largest the country has ever provided during the full-scale war. Recently, Ukrainian defenders managed to take control of an enemy position using drones and ground robotic systems. Infantry did not take part in the operation. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in March, robotic systems completed 50% more tasks than in February.
