Poland has become a major importer of Taiwanese drones, strengthening its defense amid threats from Russia. The country is actively reducing its dependence on Chinese components.
As of August 2025, Poland exported almost 60% of Taiwanese drones, worth $32 million. For comparison, the United States imported only $7 million worth of drones, Bloomberg reports.
Taiwanese manufacturer Ahamani said that demand from Poland is so high that the company plans to open a plant in the country. Ahamani has also been approached by foreigners, including a large South Korean company, to supply non-Chinese engines.
Amid the war in Ukraine, the Polish drone industry is growing rapidly. The largest manufacturer, WB Electronics, doubled its revenue to $829 million in 2024. The company already has a production facility in Ukraine and has offered Ahamani a joint venture.
Polish companies like Farada Group are actively replacing Chinese components with Taiwanese ones. According to COO Joanna Rutkowska, Taiwanese motors and batteries meet American standards and have stable availability.
FlyFocus also buys Taiwanese components when European ones are too expensive. CEO Ihor Skawinski noted that Poland has become a key intermediary in the supply of drone parts to Ukraine after restrictions from China.
“The proximity to Ukraine allows us to test equipment in combat conditions and gain valuable experience,” emphasized Justyna Siekierczak from the UAV Chamber Poland.
