Russia’s Primorsky Krai city of Vladivostok has seen an explosion and a fire at the “Severnaya” thermal power plant, local media report. The fire broke out after a short circuit occurred in one of the transformers. As a result, the substation’s operations were temporarily suspended, and electricity was cut off across much of the city, leaving about 50,000 people without power and heating. There are reportedly no casualties. City officials have gone to the scene, and the prosecutor’s office has launched an inspection into the incident. Authorities have promised that the problem will be resolved in the coming hours.
