Dozens of cars and buses became stuck Monday in large snowdrifts on a highway after a heavy snowstorm hit Russia’s Far Eastern Zabaikalsky region. According to Associated Press More than 250 people, including 28 children, were evacuated to temporary accommodation facilities, the Russian Emergency Ministry reported on Monday. Rescue workers dug vehicles out of the snowdrifts and used trucks to pull them free. While snowfall in April is not unusual for the region, strong snowstorms are relatively rare. According to forecasts, more snow is expected on Tuesday, but temperatures will rise by the end of the week.
