Drone interceptors, missiles, and electronic warfare: Latvia tests new UAV defense systems

Latvian defense companies are developing solutions to combat unmanned aerial vehicles.

Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced this.

He also published a short video with footage of testing various systems.

The active phase of field testing of the developments starts in September.

During the tests, the Latvian military, together with developers, will test drone interceptors, missiles, machine guns, and electronic warfare (EW) systems designed to perform these tasks.

Currently, the Latvian Ministry of Defense is funding four research and development projects worth just under €10 million.

According to Spruds, the first solutions will be ready by the end of 2025.
