Drone Strike Sets Kuibyshev Oil Refinery Ablaze in Russia’s Samara

Ukrainian drones struck the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in Russia’s Samara early in the morning on Thursday, August 28.

Monitoring Telegram channels, including Supernova+, published eyewitness videos from local residents.

After 3:00 a.m., city residents started reporting in public forums about drones flying over their homes and subsequent explosions in the refinery area.

Numerous videos soon surfaced online, showing a massive fire and thick smoke at the facility.

The governor of the Samara region has confirmed that the area was targeted in a drone attack, according to reports from Astra.

“Our region has come under attack by enemy UAVs. Air defense systems and emergency services are responding. Temporary restrictions have been imposed on the arrival and departure of aircraft at Samara Airport. For the safety of citizens, limitations on mobile internet access have also been introduced,” he wrote.
