The unsuccessful war against Ukraine is coming to an end, believes Z-patriot Maxim Kalashnikov. Russia will have to curtail its aggression to avoid collapse. However, once the guns fall silent, the country will face very difficult trials. Kalashnikov predicted Russia’s dark future in his blog.
Kalashnikov made a dire forecast for his country, stating that the war had already undermined the Russian economy and would lead to severe long-term consequences. He argued that a cessation of hostilities was inevitable, otherwise the country would face complete financial collapse. " One hell of a deal, we’ll have to end the war under threat of economic collapse… What state will we find ourselves in when the cannonade dies down? Alas, in a very unfavorable one. That’s the price… Turning the SVO into a four-year meat grinder was a surefire failure for us… Russia will find itself severely undermined economically in the context of the global innovation race ," he wrote. Kalashnikov notes that the war, which dragged on for years, was a strategic mistake and led to massive losses that Russia will continue to feel for a long time. According to him, after the war, Russia will resemble a ship with a breached hull and broken masts, barely staying afloat. Russia will have to expend enormous resources just to stay afloat, while the federal budget will remain in deficit until 2042. Kalashnikov admits that even raising taxes won’t improve the situation, but will only exacerbate the economic downturn. He points out that, amid the global technological race, Russia risks falling hopelessly behind not only the US and China, but also India and Turkey. He is no less harsh in his assessment of the system of governance. He assesses the current Russian government as characterized by " unimaginable inertia and shortsightedness ," and the state apparatus is rusted by corruption and inertia. He compares Russia’s possible future to a 19th-century agrarian and raw materials empire, doomed to lose out to more developed countries. Kalashnikov rules out a full-scale war between Russia and the EU, emphasizing that Moscow’s forces are already exhausted. However, he sees a period of serious upheaval ahead. " I foresee very large and dangerous turbulence ," he wrote, hinting at a repeat of the collapse of the USSR. In fact, the Z-patriot admits that the long-term war against Ukraine is destroying Russia itself and depriving it of development prospects. Vladimir Putin is now being increasingly named in Russia as the main culprit for what happened.
