Fire Engulfs Multiple Berths and Two Tankers at Transneft Port of Primorsk

Large-scale fires broke out following strikes on the oil terminal at the Transneft Port of Primorsk facility on March 23 in Russia’s Leningrad region.

CyberBoroshno OSINT group reported this news, as did the Dossye Shpiona Telegram channel.

Berths No. 1, 2, 4, 8 and 9 were damaged. A terminal used for pumping oil products at berth No. 8 was confirmed to be on fire.

According to available information, oil tankers undergoing loading caught fire at berths No. 2 and No. 4. The extent of damage to the vessels is not yet known.

On the day of the attack, local residents reported multiple explosions in the port area.

Around 4 a.m., local authorities confirmed damage to a fuel tank and a fire. Eyewitness images also showed thick black smoke rising over the facility.

In addition, official statements said Russian air defenses intercepted more than 60 attack drones.

Transneft Port of Primorsk is Russia’s largest oil export port on the Baltic Sea and a key hub for shipments of crude oil and petroleum products.

The port is the terminus of the Baltic Pipeline System and has a throughput capacity of about 1 million barrels per day.

The seaward section of the port includes nine berths, most of which are used exclusively by oil tankers. Water depth of up to 18.2 meters allows vessels with a deadweight of up to 150,000 tons to dock.

Key storage capacity is concentrated in the tank farm, where 18 large tanks with a capacity of 50,000 tons each are in operation.

Additional tanks for petroleum products and emergency discharge systems operate separately. The total terminal capacity is approximately 921,000 tons of crude oil and 240,000 tons of petroleum products.
