Ukrainian Special Operations Forces conducted a precision strike against Russian air defense positions in occupied Crimea. According to an official statement, the unmanned systems Forces of the Ukrainian Army, known as “SBS birds” from the “Middle Strike” unit successfully neutralized several high-value targets, including the advanced S-400 “Triumph” surface-to-air missile system. The operation resulted in the confirmed destruction of a critical S-400 launcher and a 92N6E multi-functional radar station. In addition to the S-400 components, the SSO reported the elimination of a Pantsir-S1 air defense system. The Pantsir-S1 was reportedly positioned to provide close-range protection for the S-400 battery against incoming drones and low-altitude missiles. “The Pantsir-S1, which covered important objects and positions of the enemy’s air defense from drones and missiles at low and medium altitudes, also ceased to exist,” the Special Operations Forces stated via their official channels. Another air defence system targeted in Crimea, is Malakhit radar station that was hit near the settlement of Novofedorivka by the Birds of the 1st Separate Center of the SBS. SBS stressed that identifying and destroying components of the Russian long-, medium-, and short-range air defense system is one of the priorities of the SBS Birds. So, Ukrainian drone operators destroyed Uragan Multiple-Launch Rocket System, Buk-M1 missile system, Pantsir-S1 missile system, and Malakhit radar system – all important components of Russia’s air defence system. The Uragan MLRS, was detected at a firing position and then destroyed in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region by pilots of the 7th Battalion “Kairos” of the 414th Separate Brigade “Magyar’s Birds.” Buk-M1 air defense missile system was struck near the settlement of Svobodne in eastern Donetsk region by pilots of the 412th Separate Brigade of the SBS “Nemesis. It’s getting increasingly harder for Russia to stop Ukrainian strikes on Crimea as Ukrainian strike capacity grows. Russia cannot stop bringing air defense systems and other military equipment to Crimea and it cannot stop them being destroyed by Ukraine. Thus, Crimea becomes a sort of trap for Russian military equipment. The destruction of these assets represents a significant financial and operational loss for the Russian military. The SSO emphasized that these “asymmetric actions” are part of a broader strategy to degrade Russia’s offensive potential and territorial control over the peninsula.
