Flamingo Cruise Missile Created and Battle-Tested in Under 9 Months

It took less than 9 months from the initial concept to the first combat deployment of the Flamingo cruise missile.

Iryna Terekh, CEO and Technical Director of Fire Point, shared this in an interview with POLITICO.

Fire Point is the company behind the development and introduction of this new domestically produced missile.

The company’s CEO revealed that the missile is already in serial production, with plans to manufacture around 200 units per month.

On August 21, 2025, AP reported that the production rate is currently about one missile per day and is expected to increase.

An exclusive video of missile launches was shown to POLITICO.

On August 20, 2025, during a conversation with journalists, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that successful tests of the Ukrainian-made Flamingo cruise missile have already taken place. According to him, mass production is expected to begin in January-February. The President also noted that “funding for this program needs to be considered.”

Clarifying the missile’s origin, Iryna Terekh added that “it is entirely Ukrainian-made.”

“We came up with it quite quickly. It took less than nine months to develop it from an idea to the first successful battlefield tests. I won’t tell you its exact speed, but I can say that it is faster than all the other missiles we currently have,” Terekh said.

The missile’s warhead weighs 1,150 kilograms, and its range exceeds 3,000 kilometers. Additionally, it is reported that the missile is protected against Russian electronic warfare measures.

Recall that news about the new Flamingo missile became known on August 17, when its photographs were published by Associated Press photojournalist Yefrem Lukatsky on his Facebook page.

The company is also a manufacturer of long-range FP-1 drones and is actively scaling up production of both products and expanding its manufacturing capacity.
