Servicemen of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces of Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck a military plant in Chapayevsk city in Russia’s Samara region, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Saturday. The attack was carried out by Ukraine’ s domestically made FP-5 Flamingo missiles. Video footage released in social media captures the moment of the strike on the facility followed by strong fire. Promsynthez plant specializes in the production of explosive components used for equipping ammunition, bombs, missiles. It produces more than 30,000 tons of military-grade explosives per year,” the statement said. The attack on the plant was followed by an explosion in the production area. FP-5 Flamingo is Ukrainian ground launched cruise missile developed by defence firm Fire Point. Unveiled in 2015, FP-5 “Flamingo” have been used in deep-strike operations against Russian-controlled or Russian territory, and have been associated with attacks targeting: military airbases in Russian-annexed Crimea Peninsula; logistics and ammunition depots in southern Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, infrastructure and military sites far behind the frontline, including in western Russia. The missile functions as a one-way attack UAV with extended range, potentially capable of striking targets hundreds of kilometers away. It is thought to be relatively low-cost compared to cruise missiles, allowing Ukraine to use it in repeated strikes against high-value targets such as fuel depots, logistics hubs, airfields, and military infrastructure. Its design likely emphasizes range, payload efficiency, and the ability to evade air defenses, similar in concept to other long-range drones used in the conflict. It’s worth noting that Ukraine has scale up long-range drone and artillery strikes on Russian energy, military and other strategic facility in an attempt to undermine the Kremlin’s war attempts. The Ukrainian troops have also been gaining ground in the frontline, regaining control over 470 square kilometers of territory and eliminated 11,000 Russian troops during counteroffensive operations launched in the south of the country in late February.
