German defense manufacturer KNDS has inaugurated a new production line for its Boxer wheeled armored vehicle in Munich. According to Associated Press the facility is expected to produce up to 10 drive modules per month. Depending on the configuration, the Boxer platform can be adapted for a wide range of roles, from infantry fighting vehicles to self-propelled howitzers and ambulance variants. The aim is the strengthening of domestic defense capabilities through local production. The new production line is part of a broader effort by KNDS to significantly expand output of the Boxer system. The company aims to increase its production capacity sixfold by 2030.
