Germany Ordered More Than 800 Patria Armored Vehicles with Mortar and RS4 Combat Module

Patria and Germany have signed two contracts under the Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) program worth more than €2 billion.

The contracts provide for the purchase of up to 876 Patria 6×6 armored vehicles in four variants.

These include modifications with the Patria NEMO turret mortar system and the Kongsberg RS4 remote-controlled weapon system.

Deliveries will begin in 2026. After that, Patria will transfer the technology to German industrial partners FFG, JWT and KNDS, with whom it signed an industrial cooperation agreement in early 2024.

The first fully locally built vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in 2027, with full local production to be deployed to meet possible future requirements of the Bundeswehr.

The CAVS program, led by the Finnish Armed Forces, unites seven countries: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Norway. It already envisages the operation of vehicles in Ukraine, with most of the deliveries being made through the local industry capabilities of the members.

Patria has already received orders for nearly 2,000 Patria 6×6 machines and has delivered more than 250 units.
