Ground Drone Evacuates Elderly Woman from Lyman Direction

A ground robotic system of the 3rd Army Corps evacuated a 77-year-old woman from the Lyman direction.

The corps’ press service released a video of the operation.

It said the woman tried to leave the danger zone on her own, moving past shell craters and the bodies of dead villagers, leaving almost no chance of escape without assistance.

Soldiers of the Cerberus unmanned ground systems company took part in the evacuation. To avoid frightening the woman, the ground robotic system was covered with a blanket with the inscription: “Grandma, sit down!”.

The movement of the system was coordinated with support from a reconnaissance drone.

Three more civilians who were evacuating on foot were escorted to the evacuation point by drones. From there, fighters of the 1st Mechanized Battalion transported them out of the combat zone in an armoured vehicle and handed them over to civil-military cooperation units.

The evacuated woman is 77 years old, 53 of whom she lived in her home, which was destroyed by the invaders.

The 3rd Army Corps is urging civilians not to delay evacuation in order to preserve the most valuable asset — life.

Ground robotic systems are increasingly being used for evacuation operations directly on the front line.

In particular, it was recently reported that two MAUL ground drones equipped with an armored capsule evacuated six wounded soldiers from the front line within one day.
