Our main stories tonight:
– HORMUZ REMAINS RESTRICTED
President Trump warns he will not be “blackmailed” as Iran shuts down the Strait of Hormuz once again. With the U.S. blockade choking Iranian revenue and Tehran blocking one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, the global economy remains in the crosshairs of this escalating conflict.
– DEADLY SHOOTING AND SIEGE UNFOLD IN KYIV
The gunman who killed several people in and around a Kyiv supermarket was shot dead by police, after special forces stormed the building following failed negotiations. A child was among the victims, according to Kyiv Mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
– COUNTERING RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA
Despite Moscow’s threats and attempts to escalate the conflict, Europe remains resolved to aiding war-torn Ukraine. Russian propaganda has once again fallen on deaf ears, says TVP World News Director Adam Jasser in his report from the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.
– WASHINGTON ADJUSTS SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA
The Trump administration has extended a sanctions waiver for Russian oil shipments and granted a 60-day window for the Serbian oil company NIS, co-owned by Russia’s Gazprom. Officials are racing to prevent a summer energy crisis while pushing for a deal to remove Russian stakeholders from Serbia’s primary refinery.
