Russians, who until now have accepted Putin’s "SVO" as a distant conflict that has nothing to do with them, are beginning to feel its effects firsthand. And they know that winter is approaching. More and more Russians are facing difficulties finding gasoline. In many regions, sales are limited to 20 liters per customer. One regional chain is now reportedly selling gasoline only to commercial customers with fleet fuel cards. Furthermore, gas stations have banned customers from filling up canisters, Forbes reports. All this angers the Russian people. The limited sale of fuel increases public protests. This means that the Ukrainian drones are creating a wave of protests against the authorities in Russia.

Recall, Ukraine has carried many highly creative drone attacks against Russia. Even they’ve destroyed some of Russia’s most valuable warplanes, parked at military bases deep inside Russia.

Many gas stations in occupied Crimea are currently closed, and those still open sell only diesel fuel. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, school buses are unable to pick up children due to a fuel shortage, although regional authorities deny any disruptions. "New shipments of gasoline will arrive in the coming days, enough to meet the population’s needs until October 12," said Alexey Maslov, head of the Vanino District in Khabarovsk Krai. He attributed the problem to "ten-day scheduled maintenance at oil refineries." Military historian Chris_O quotes Dmitry Steishin, who is skeptical of the Russian Air Force’s claims that it always shoots down 100% of attacking drones. The Air Force invariably attributes all damage to "falling debris" from downed drones. "Two shells don’t hit the same crater, but drones do," Steishin remarks sarcastically. Z-channel "Two Majors" claims that the problem of drone attacks will not be solved until a single agency responsible for countering them is established, since currently the Air Force, army units, air defense forces, and local authorities are to blame. Some Russian public groups even cite a popular conspiracy theory that refinery owners are deliberately allowing their facilities to be blown up in order to reduce supplies and raise prices. "That’s why we see such shameful videos of a slow-flying drone approaching and attacking yet another oil refinery in broad daylight, encountering no resistance," write Z-bloggers. Perhaps the problem is even more simple. Perhaps Russia isn’t shooting down Ukrainian drones because it’s running out of surface-to-air missiles
