The Russian Iskander missile system base in Crimea was on fire following a nighttime drone attack.
The Crimean Wind monitoring Telegram channel reported on this, referencing satellite data.
NASA FIRMS satellites detected the fire south of the village of Mizhhirya in the Bilohirsk district.
The site in question is the former missile unit – military unit 82717. According to available information, Russian forces use this location as a base for the Iskander operational-tactical missile systems.
Local residents reported the movement of a drone group through the Dzhankoy district towards the Belogorsk district during the night.
Mikhail Razvozhaev, the so-called “Governor of Sevastopol,” confirmed the drone attack in the morning. He claimed that Russian air defense supposedly shot down 20 drones.
This base had previously been targeted by Ukraine’s UAV Operations on April 16, along with another Russian missile base near the village of Kurortne.
Russia regularly launches ballistic missiles at Ukraine’s civilian and critical infrastructure from temporarily occupied Crimea. As a result, destroying these missile bases and the systems themselves is a crucial mission for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
In March, operators from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces destroyed a Russian Iskander missile launcher in Crimea, near the village of Vyshneve.
The camouflaged vehicle was already in the launch area, and the crew was preparing to launch missiles.
Several FP-2 drones, operated by Special Operations Forces (SOF), successfully hit the target – a secondary detonation of the ammunition was recorded. In addition, Ukrainian defenders discovered and struck a storage point for Iskander launchers in the village of Kurortne.
Notably, this is only the third confirmed case of the destruction of Iskander missile system launchers during the entire Russo-Ukrainian war.
