Israel said on Monday it had continued conducting strikes across Iran. The Israeli army said in a statement that it had struck "defense systems" in the Iranian capital and released video of strikes. The killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US and Israeli strikes earlier has thrown the future of the Islamic Republic into uncertainty and raised the risk of regional instability. Iran retaliated by firing missiles and drones at Israel and at U.S. military installations around the Gulf, and also at the Saudi capital and the global business hub of Dubai. Earlier Sunday, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard threatened to launch its “most intense offensive operation” ever, targeting Israel and U.S. bases.
The Israel military released footage on Sunday said to show a strike on two fighter jets in western Iran, belonging to the regime. In a statement the army said, "a short while ago, the Israel Air Force struck two Iranian terror regime F5 and F4 fighter jets at the airport of Tabriz in western Iran, as the jets were prepared for takeoff." Israel’s military claimed Sunday that its strikes had killed 40 top Iranian military officials. Israel did not provide evidence, and neither Iran nor the United States immediately commented on the claim. More than 200 people have been killed since the start of the U.S. and Israeli strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior leaders, Iranian leaders have said. Iran fired missiles at Israel and Arab states in retaliation and the war expanded to include militias Tehran backs in the Middle East with an attack by Hezbollah on Israel. Israel struck back against the group in Lebanon and the United States pounded targets in Iran.
