The Israeli military struck and entirely destroyed the Qasmiyeh Bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon, Israeli media and Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday, the last of a handful of bridges that link large swaths of southern Lebanon with the rest of the country. The NNA said Israel launched two consecutive drone strikes over the bridge. According to Associated Press Lebanese troops and security rushed to the crater following the strikes, as people crossed the bridge by foot carrying belongings. Elsewhere, Israeli jets have unleashed a barrage of strikes on the southern town of Nabatiyeh and surrounding towns, sending giant plumes of black smoke billowing over the regional hub of southern Lebanon, the most intense since the start of the war.
