The Israeli military claimed on Thursday that it struck 70 Hezbollah structures in the strategic south Lebanon town of Bint Jbeil, a day after the two countries held historic talks in Washington. According to Associated Press across southern Lebanon, Israeli forces said they had struck more than 200 Hezbollah targets over the past 24 hours. Hezbollah claimed rocket attacks on military targets in northern Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday evening that the current fighting is concentrated in Bint Jbeil, where Israeli troops are about to “eliminate this great stronghold of Hezbollah.” Netanyahu said he has given instructions for the military to continue to widen the security zone in south Lebanon – a reference to areas close to the border that the Israeli army now occupies – and to also spread it eastward. He said Israel is concurrently negotiating with Lebanon, with two central goals: Disarming Hezbollah and a "sustainable" peace. Meanwhile, the Israeli military killed at least four Lebanese rescue workers and wounded six others in three consecutive, targeted strikes Wednesday, paramedic groups said, a stark illustration of the human cost of the Israeli military campaign against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
