Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that there “there are no consultations per se currently underway” with the U.S. on ending the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Associated Press his comments came after various media outlets reported the existence of such a plan.
“There are certainly contacts, but processes that could be called consultations are not underway,” Peskov told reporters in a conference call, as reports circulated about a new U.S.-Russian proposal.
Peskov reiterated that "we have nothing new to add to what was said in Anchorage" in August, when Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S.President Donald Trump met.
He stressed that Russia "remains open" to ending the military operation, "but the settlement must lead to the elimination of the root causes of this conflict."
