During his "Direct Line," Vladimir Putin faced a series of awkward questions that even he deigned to acknowledge, but the media did the talking for him. Each of the issues raised demonstrates the extent of Russia’s decline due to the war, which has now entered its fourth year.
The first question that came via SMS messages that is worth highlighting was: " Why do ordinary people live worse than the Papuans ?"
There are several answers to this question. The simplest is total austerity, as all expenses go toward the war, and the authorities are simply stingy with spending on everything else . Another example is the tax hike, which Vladimir Putin explained as a fight against " gray schemes ," but in reality, the Kremlin is simply robbing its own people. A third example is the establishment of control over Russian citizens’ bank card transactions by Rosfinmonitoring , or the financial intelligence service, which, by a State Duma decision, will be able to seize all property from those undesirable to the regime. " When will normal internet be restored? It’s impossible to even send messages to the president! " they asked the Kremlin dictator.
"Normal internet" won’t be restored, as the Kremlin is literally training Russians: censoring publications using Roskomnadzor bots, blocking websites, and forcibly transferring everyone to the national messenger app Max. Russians are being trained not to read anything objectionable to the regime or to publish posts expressing outrage . Since December 17, security forces in St. Petersburg have jammed mobile internet to 2G. The authorities are justifying this by citing countermeasures against Ukrainian drones, but they’re simply lying. To achieve this goal, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov would only need to deploy all electronic warfare systems not only to Moscow and Valdai. The authorities are trying to create a vacuum among the people so that Russians, under the influence of propaganda, will not doubt the "war for the return of historical lands," will not see opinions from other parts of the world, and will not realize that their country is waging an aggressive invasion, plundering, destroying, and killing throughout Ukraine, "liberating" people from peaceful life. "Who will be the next president? I’d like to take a closer look ," Russians wrote to Putin, the long-time incumbent.
