On the morning of May 5, Ukrainian Liutyi strike drones attacked the Russian defense factory VNIIR-Progress in Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic.
This was reported by Astra.
This was a second strike on the facility, which had already been hit overnight by a Flamingo cruise missile.
The new attack is confirmed by videos posted by local residents, which they are sharing on social media.
The footage shows drones flying over residential buildings and diving toward their target.
The head of the Chuvash Republic, Oleg Nikolaev, also confirmed the repeated strikes on Cheboksary, but did not specify where they hit.
Exilenova+ reports that VNIIR-Progress was struck by at least four Lyutyi drones. Traffic in the city has been partially restricted, and schools and technical colleges have switched to remote learning.
The targeted factory
The VNIIR-Progress produces GNSS receivers and antennas for the Russian army, compatible with GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo satellite systems, including modules of the Kometa type.
These modules are widely used in drones, including Shahed-type kamikaze drones, as well as in missiles of the Iskander-M and Kalibr systems, and in guided kits (UMPK) for air-dropped bombs.
The factory also manufactures electrical engineering equipment: automatic circuit breakers, relays, and contactless modules, which are supplied to the Russian navy, including for Yasen-M class nuclear submarines.
Osint analysts, after reviewing available footage online, confirmed that the building of this Russian military facility was hit at night by a Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile.

Previously, the VNIIR-Progress had been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian long-range strike drones. Notably, on February 18, a fire broke out there following an attack. After the June 9 attack last year, the factory suspended its operations. The facility was then attacked again by drones on July 5, 2025. Another strike occurred on November 26.
