Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that the latest European Union sanctions package was part of the bloc’s "consistent anti-Russian" stance. According to Associated Press during a conference call with journalists, he added that Russia considered "such unilateral restrictions unlawful.” Earlier in the day, the EU approved a new raft of sanctions against Russia over its conflict in Ukraine, including a lower oil price cap, a ban on transactions with Nord Stream gas pipelines, and the targeting of more shadow fleet ships. The 27 EU member countries decided to set the oil price per barrel at just under $48, down from a previous cap of $60.
