NATO Authorized Downing of Drones Over Romania on Night of April 25

Russian attack drones crossed the Romanian border during an attack on the night of April 25 and crashed in Tulcea County.

This was reported by the Ministry of National Defence of Romania in a press release.

Two British Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were scrambled to intercept the targets. The pilots received official authorization to shoot down the drones, which were located one and a half kilometers from the Ukrainian city of Reni.

At 2:31 a.m., residents of Galați reported the crash via the 112 emergency number, after which rescue workers and police arrived in the Bariera Traian area. No one was injured in the incident, and only a farm building and a power line sustained damage.

Romania called Russia’s actions irresponsible and a direct violation of international law.

As a reminder, on the night of March 26, a Russian drone also crashed on Romanian territory near the Ukrainian border.

The drone entered the country’s airspace at 12:44 a.m., penetrating approximately 4 km into the country. It subsequently crashed 2 km from the village of Parcheș in Tulcea County.
