In new photos of the downed Shaheds, Ukrainian fighters found non-standard modifications – rear-view cameras mounted both on top and bottom of the hull.
Presumably, the enemy is preparing to hunt for Ukrainian interceptors. A Ukrainian specialist in military radio technologies made this assumption in his Telegram channel On communication with Serhiy Flash.
Along with the cameras, additional antennas are installed at the ends of the tail, a clear sign that the device works with a new type of radio modem to transmit video signals.
This configuration looks like an attempt by the enemy to get an image of what is happening behind the drone, including the moments of the attack by Ukrainian interceptors.
There is an assumption that Shahed drones with cameras can reconnoiter flight corridors to identify our routes and intercept Ukrainian equipment.
It is also possible that Russia is testing new evasive maneuvers, using camera images to determine when the Ukrainian interceptor is entering the “tail”.
This may be an attempt to reduce the drone’s vulnerability to strike UAV interceptors, which have recently been systematically destroying Shakhtys before they hit their targets.
The additional sensors allow the enemy to collect telemetry and video to analyze our tactics – attack speed, approach distance, and ramming height.
Such modifications indicate that Russia has clearly recognized the effectiveness of Ukrainian interceptors and is seeking a way to counter them in the air.
