Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that Ukraine may use a “nuclear component” and is allegedly preparing to target the Turkish Stream gas pipeline in the Black Sea. The wording was dramatic and notably vague.
Shortly after Putin’s remarks, Dmitry Medvedev amplified the message, warning that transferring nuclear technology to Ukraine would be a “direct path to world war”. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia would target Estonia with nuclear capabilities if NATO weapons were deployed, while simultaneously insisting that Russia is not “threatening anyone”.
