Ukraine continues to actively develop the use of drones for strikes on Russian territory and intends to significantly increase the number of such attacks in the near future. This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov in a comment to journalists, reports "24 Kanal" . According to him, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian drones have come a long way in development. If earlier they could hit targets at a limited distance, now we are talking about deep strikes on Russian rear facilities.
The minister noted that last year Ukraine developed a plan for conducting systemic long-range operations, which envisages the regular use of "long-range drones" to carry out pinpoint strikes on enemy targets. "We have contracted several tens of thousands of such drones, thanks to which the Ukrainian military was able to carry out regular high-precision strikes on the enemy’s most important targets located far behind the front line ," Umerov emphasized.
He added that about two weeks ago the Ukrainian command decided to increase the number of such operations several times. In the near future, it is planned to sign new contracts for the purchase of tens of thousands of long-range drones in order to further increase pressure on the enemy and expand the geography of strikes. Ukraine is actively developing its own drone production. According to the Minister of Defense, the Ukrainian defense industry is currently capable of producing more than 4 million drones of various types per year.
In addition, Rustem Umerov announced changes in the system of purchasing drones for the army. According to him, the DOT Chain Defense program is being introduced. It will function as a marketplace: military brigades will see all available drone models in the system, order the types of UAVs they need, and the Defense Procurement Agency will promptly pay for these orders. The Minister stressed that such a system will ensure a more efficient supply of drones to the army and will increase the speed of obtaining the models needed at the front.
Recall, on June 27, the Special Operations Forces together with other components of the Defense Forces carried out an operation, within the framework of which Su-34 fighters were destroyed at the Marinovka airfield in the Volgograd region, the General Staff reports . The report noted that four enemy aircraft were hit by fire, as well as a place for servicing and repairing aircraft .
