Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, visited Bucha, Ukraine on Friday along with Halo Trust, the largest humanitarian landmine clearance organization in the world, for a demonstration of digital de-mining technology. According to Associated Press the video footage shared by Halo Trust, shows Harry flying a drone that detects and maps the position of lethal explosives and operating a robot that is used to remove explosives from the ground. According to Halo Trust, Bucha is littered with mines and unexploded munitions following the fierce fighting which took place as Ukrainian troops repelled the Russian forces in 2022. Harry echoed his mother Princess Diana’s legacy by cooperating with Halo Trust. Diana worked with Halo Trust when she went to Angola in January 1997, just months before she was killed in a car crash in Paris. Then, Diana’s advocacy and the images of her walking through a minefield helped mobilize support for a land mine ban treaty that was ratified later that year.
