Vladimir Putin’s plan to divide Europe from within has spectacularly failed with the downfall of Robert Fico and Viktor Orbán, the two ‘Trojan horses’ in Hungary and Slovakia. Now, the civilian population forms the strongest line of defence against pro-Russian politics.
In this video, we analyse two civil movements that broke Moscow’s veto keys and the helpless situation the leaders found themselves in:
🔹 FICO’S ROSTOV INVITATION: Robert Fico’s threat to the EU that ‘if you cut off Russian gas, I will sue you’ brought the Slovak people out onto the streets. Tens of thousands of protesters staged a non-violent ‘Lime Revolution,’ chanting ‘FICO, ROSTOV IS CALLING’ – meaning they wanted to send Fico to the city where ousted leader Yanukovych had taken refuge.
🔹 ORBÁN’S 200,000-PERSON BLACKLIST: In Hungary, the Orbán regime, panicked by the rise of opposition leader Péter Magyar, attempted to instil fear by illegally publishing the personal data of 200,000 opposition supporters. This scandal destroyed Orbán’s authoritarian image.
🔹 STRATEGIC TRAP: While talking about Russia’s power on the one hand, Orbán undermined his own propaganda on the other, admitting that ‘Russia is not powerful enough to attack NATO’. To survive economically, he was forced to beg for sanctions exemption from the US, precisely because of Putin’s policies.
🔹 CIVIL WALL: These civil movements in Bratislava and Budapest broke down the barriers to arms and financial aid flowing to Ukraine. The people of Europe are shouting that democracy is not for sale.
Putin’s project to divide Europe collapsed on the pavements of Bratislava before it even reached the trenches of Donbas.
