Real-Time Reconnaissance: Live Drone Video Streaming on the FSV Platform

Ukrainian company Farsight Vision has introduced live video streaming from drones to its FSV Platform during flight.

In an interview with Militarnyi, the company explained that users no longer need to wait for a drone to return – data is available in real time.

The FSV Platform processes incoming media into orthophotography maps and 3D models, providing a solid basis for planning, terrain analysis, and reconnaissance preparation.

Most enemy targets are dynamic: after completing a task, they change positions as quickly as possible, says serviceman Yurii, callsign “Phoenix.”

Reconnaissance units continuously track target movements and transmit live video streams to pilots and analysts.

This creates a critical dependence on data speed: any delay can mean missing the chance to strike.

One of the main challenges in tactical reconnaissance is losing data when the drone itself is lost.

Meanwhile, many drones are lost not only because they are destroyed, but also due to electronic warfare, signal loss, or technical failures.

Farsight Vision’s solution

Farsight Vision introduces a new feature that allows video to be streamed directly during UAV flight, with processing happening almost in real time.

This changes the basic workflow for handling reconnaissance data—from “collect → return → upload → process” to “collect → transmit → process.”

“In practice, it’s simple: the user adds a video stream link to the FSV Platform and starts recording, after which the data begins to be transmitted during the flight,” the company explains.

While the crew is returning from a mission, media data is already available on the platform to generate orthophotos and 3D models.

If the drone is lost, the data is automatically saved, so the information is not lost.

This allows reconnaissance results to be preserved and used for further analysis, including the creation of orthophotos.

“An expansion of video stream input sources through integrations with specialized services is planned,” Farsight Vision noted.

The maximum video stream recording duration is 180 minutes, or until the workspace’s available storage is filled. The stream can also be paused.

The integration of streaming into the FSV Platform helps address two critical tasks at once: reducing the time from detection to decision-making and preserving reconnaissance data even if the carrier is lost.

Previously, Farsight Vision developed a technology that uses artificial intelligence to create 2D and 3D terrain models based on drone imagery.
