Occupied Yenakiyeve, Yanukovych’s hometown, is in a state of water collapse. A muddy liquid with a disgusting smell flows from the taps, residents complain en masse about the impossibility of using water and threaten to appeal personally to Putin. The Russian occupation administration ignores the disaster.
City residents are increasingly posting videos of complaints online. They say that the water in the taps is technical, dirty, sometimes with a yellowish or rusty tint, and the smell is disgusting. It is impossible to use it for drinking or for hygiene. According to locals, this has been going on for several weeks.
People are saying it straight: Yenakiyevo is on the verge of an ecological and sanitary catastrophe. The sewage system is unstable, there is no filtration, and sources of clean water have either dried up or are destroyed. The city is gradually turning into a humanitarian disaster zone. Despite the scale of the problem, the Russian occupation administration offers no solutions or assistance. Desperate locals say they are ready to appeal directly to Putin if local authorities are unable or unwilling to solve the problem. A public reaction was also caused by a post by Ukrainian journalist Denis Kazansky, who ironically recalled: "Why is Yanukovych silent? Why doesn’t he stand up for his fellow countrymen? After all, his team once swore that Donbass needed to be heard. Well, your hometown is asking for help from the Russian authorities. Where is your support?" The catastrophe in Yenakiyevo is not an accident, but a natural result of the Russian occupation policy. Destroyed infrastructure, ignoring the basic needs of people, a complete lack of social responsibility. Today this city is another example of how the "Russian world" brings the territory to complete degradation.
Earlier, reported that residents of Yenakiyevo staged a riot: people came out en masse to protest against the actions of the Russian Federation. Citizens are holding spontaneous rallies: there is no water for two weeks, communications are destroyed, and there is no organized supply. What was promised as "liberation" in 2014 has turned into a slow humanitarian catastrophe in 2025. In 11 years of occupation, Russia has turned the Ukrainian Donbass into a dying ghetto. According to residents, the local water mains have completely fallen apart from old age. Pipes break regularly, and the Russian occupation "authorities" ignore requests and do not fulfill promises. In response to complaints – formal replies or outright lies: applications are closed with the wording "water has started flowing" when the taps are empty.
