Ukrainian strikes continue to destroy the occupiers’ military infrastructure in Crimea, and now the Russians are facing a fuel shortage. The shortage is already affecting logistics. This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy.
The military infrastructure of the occupiers in Crimea continues to be attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and this is compounded by another serious problem – the lack of fuel. According to Dmytro Pletenchuk, the shortage is already noticeable on the peninsula and will sooner or later affect the army.
He emphasized that there are many military facilities in Crimea, and despite the absence of the fleet, which consumes hundreds of tons of fuel daily, logistics and fuel supplies are complicated. The railroad that the Russians have built through the occupied territories is damaged, and they are afraid to transport tanks across the Crimean bridge. “Fuel is sometimes available in Crimea, but the shortage is becoming more and more noticeable and will inevitably affect the military. If fuel production has fallen by a quarter, the consequences are felt everywhere," summarized Pletenchuk. Currently, Russians are more afraid of transporting fuel across the Crimean Bridge. In general, the Russian army refuses to transport fuel by bridge.
Pletenchuk added that Russia has created a multi-layered system of protection around the Crimean Bridge – from boom barriers at sea and total inspections on land to tight air cover. The FSB coast guard is constantly on duty there, patrol boats are on duty, and the sky is controlled by drones and combat aircraft, including Su-57s. It is these measures that still keep the illegal structure from further destruction. According to him, the occupiers actually blocked the Crimean Canal with boom and barge barriers and constantly “drown” various objects in the water area to make underwater sabotage impossible.
“The Crimean Canal is actually blocked, the occupiers are erecting both boom and barge barriers – everything is blocked as much as possible… How the bridge was hit last time still remains a mystery to most,” Pletenchuk noted, recalling the undermining of the support in June, when the SBU activated underwater explosives.
He emphasized that access to the bridge from land is almost impossible without checks – “getting to it is like crossing the state border” – the location is extremely tightly covered from the air. In addition to the coast guard, boats, air defense systems, and operational-tactical-level aviation are operating there.
Pletenchuk said specifically about air cover: the Russians use everything, “from drones to operational-tactical-level aviation.” Among the drones are “Forpost”, “Orion” and the Iranian Mohajer-6. Helicopters and planes of various models were also spotted in the air, sometimes even Su-57s with escort.
The spokesman also emphasized the Navy’s role in the overall air defense system. According to him, drone attacks often come from the sea, so it is more difficult to repel them from the water than on land.
“If pickup trucks with mobile groups can be driven into the field, then at sea it’s only ships or boats. And we meet these targets first,” Pletenchuk explained.
