On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian soldiers resort to self-harm to avoid obeying commanders’ orders. This information is spread by the partisan movement Atesh.
According to Atesh, in the Donetsk Military Hospital there has been an increase in the number of wounded and injured among the soldiers of the 1441st Motor Rifle Regiment, arriving with similar injury symptoms.
They allegedly admit that they injured themselves on purpose to avoid tasks that cannot be performed due to insufficient training, equipment, and provisioning.
According to them, soldiers are sent to storm defensive positions without proper training, equipment, or full provisioning. In other words, they are pushed to the front line with an order to ‘take the point at any cost’. Those who try to refuse are subjected to threats of confinement and loss of pay.
“In such a situation, some fighters try to artificially render themselves unfit for duty – to receive a minor wound, hoping to end up in a hospital and ride out the wave of assaults. But in reality, not everyone is so lucky: some are returned after treatment and are thrown back into battle without the right to object”, Atesh said.
According to opposition sources, a crisis has emerged among Russian units: the command resorts to the practice of forced maiming to avoid tasks that cannot be completed. Such actions undermine the combat readiness of units, provoke growing hostility toward the command, and exacerbate internal conflicts among personnel.
Russian forces continue to attempt to break through northwest of Pokrovsk.
The situation requires careful analysis of the impact of these practices on discipline and the overall readiness of the army to carry out frontline tasks.
