Russian forces, after their failure near Kupiansk, are attempting to change tactics and shift to mass "banzai attacks" in Pokrovsk. However, Ukraine’s Defense Forces are maintaining control over a significant part of the city and inflicting catastrophic losses on the enemy, which indicates a crisis in the combat capability of Russian units. Dmytro Sniehyriov, military expert, said this. He says that according to the Ukrainian military, the enemy is showing the greatest activity on the western outskirts of the city. “I remind you that according to information from Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine’s Defense Forces control about 13 square kilometers of Pokrovsk’s residential development, while the total area of the city is about 29 square kilometers. That is, there is no question of any capture of Pokrovsk. It is precisely these successful actions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in Pokrovsk that primarily provoke this nature of attacks. Moreover, I note, for the Russians the losses are catastrophic. Currently, in the Pokrovsk direction and in Pokrovsk itself, they are estimated at approximately 500 personnel per day. I emphasize that we are talking about the most combat-capable units of the invading Russian army”, expert added. "Most importantly, the "banzai attack" was carried out by units of the 76th Airborne Division, which was hastily transferred from the Zaporizhzhia direction to Pokrovsk. This indicates that Russia has no combat-capable units ready to conduct active phases of combat operations specifically in urban development conditions in Pokrovsk." Currently, the Russian forces are trying to break through in the direction of Hryshyne, which is northwest of Pokrovsk, attempting to cut off the Pokrovsk-Pavlohrad highway. This is a key logistical component for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
