Russian army advancing in eastern Komar, while some Z-channels claim that Putin’s army has occupied Novonikolaevka and Peredubovo, and has advanced northwest of Alekseyevka, southwest of Gorokhovo, and west of Komar. Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War have announced the situation on the border with Dnepropetrovsk region.

One of the Russian war correspondents claims that the enemy army has closed the pocket between Komar and Odradny. However, there are those who claim that the situation is actually a little different. Between June 15 and 16, Putin’s army conducted military operations in the direction of Novopavlovka, near Kotlyarovka, in the area of Alekseyevka, Novy Komar and Vesyoloye.
A representative of the Khortitsa group, Major Viktor Tregubov, stated that Russian troops are moving towards the Dnepropetrovsk region in an attempt to achieve "political goals." Ukrainian military expert Alexander Musienko stated that in the summer and fall of 2025, Putin’s army has been tasked with completely occupying the entire Donetsk region. The enemy also has the goal of disrupting the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, creating new "gray zones" and developing offensive operations in the Pokrovsk direction. The leader of the "DPR" Denis Pushilin stated that Putin’s army is moving towards the Dnepropetrovsk region to encircle the Pokrovsk garrison. Against this backdrop, the former instructor of "Storm-Z" stated that Russian troops continue to submit false reports to their superiors . He denied the claims that units of the 114th Motorized Rifle Brigade captured Alekseyevka. Z-instructor noted that false reports often lead to large and unjustified losses in personnel and equipment. The Russian military command reportedly arrested and dismissed several commanders of the 3rd Army after inaccurate reports of alleged offensives in the Belogorovka area and repeated protests from the Russian militaristic community.
Russian forces have secured a small foothold in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region for the first time since the early weeks of the full-scale war in 2022, The New York Times reported, recently.

Small groups of Russian soldiers crossed into the Dnipropetrovsk region from the occupied Donetsk region over the past weekend, three Ukrainian officers stationed in the area told The New York Times. A battlefield map compiled by the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War also indicates that Russia has claimed a small strip of territory inside Dnipropetrovsk. The officers told the NYT that Russian troops have not seized any settlements and have only advanced along a few tree lines. Military analysts and Ukrainian sources told the NYT that the move is more likely a symbolic effort to erode Ukrainian morale and a strategic effort to reinforce Moscow’s positions in neighboring areas rather than a push to seize the entire Dnipropetrovsk region.
