"We have people, we have innovation, we have democracy, we have money, we have economic power. We have also a considerable amount of military power" – says Pekka Toveri, FInnish politician, European Parliament member and former general. Analysing a potential new European reality without the U.S., Toveri underlines the strengths of Europe which are not so obvious on the other side of the Atlantic.
He also underlines that the new NATO, potentially without the U.S. is quite thinkable. "We have overwhelming military conventional military capabilities towards Russia," says the Finnish politician. He also points out that the Kremlin would now push Slovakian Prime Minister Fico to be "the new Orbán" in Central Europe.
