The situation in Myrnohrad near Pokrovsk has become significantly more complicated in recent days. Russian troops are intensifying their assaults and bringing heavy equipment into the city center, according to the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. "Over the past week, the operational situation in Myrnohrad has become significantly more complicated. Ukrainian Defense Forces are focusing their main efforts on containing Russia’s further advance in the northern outskirts of Myrnohrad, where active combat operations are ongoing," the statement says.
Ukrainian military notes that to implement its plan to occupy the city, Russians are bringing heavy equipment, including artillery, into the central part of Myrnohrad.
At the same time, Russian assault groups are active on the eastern outskirts of the city.
Russian pressure north of the city significantly limits the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in Myrnohrad itself. This, in turn, narrows the possibilities for firepower against the Russian troops.
"In these difficult conditions, the 79th Air Assault Brigade conducted search and strike operations north of Myrnohrad to detect and eliminate Russian groups. In doing so, they prevented the Russians from entering the rear of our positions," the Ukrainian military says
According to analysts, the aggressor has seized new territories in the northern part of Pokrovsk and has also advanced toward Hryshyno – a settlement key for the Defense Forces’ logistics in the agglomeration. In Myrnohrad, the aggressor has occupied several more blocks in the eastern part of the city. A day earlier, DeepState analysts had already noted the Russian army’s advance toward Hryshyno.
“Pokrovsk continues to be absorbed by the enemy, who, in addition to infantry, is actively bringing in its equipment, deploying electronic warfare systems, and scattering its pilots across the area, who, using drones, effectively control the logistics of the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration,” the project’s analysts wrote.
According to them, Russian drone pilots have taken positions in the area of the nine-story buildings, allowing them to control the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ logistics within a 10-kilometer radius. In Myrnohrad, the situation is even more difficult – through the settlement of Rodynske to the north, the aggressor is conducting raids behind the Defense Forces’ lines, attacking positions of Ukrainian pilots.
“The latest battles for Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad are ongoing,” the analysts concluded.
Russian forces would need at least two more years to fully capture Donetsk Oblast at current offensive rates, with the main future battle expected to unfold in Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, co-founders of the DeepStateUA monitoring project Ruslan Mykula and Roman Pohorilyi said during a special session of the Kyiv Security Forum. "78% of Donetsk Oblast is currently occupied by the enemy. How quickly can the Russians occupy Donetsk Oblast?" Mykula said.
“It should be noted that before the full-scale invasion, the Russians controlled 32.3% of the region’s territory. In 2022, the enemy captured another 24.4% of the region. From 2023 to the present, 21.8%. Currently, 21.5% of the region remains under the control of the armed forces. If we take the pace of 2025, which is indicative, it will take the enemy at least 742 days, or about two years, to occupy Donetsk Oblast completely.”
