In Ukraine, fragments of the Russian multifunctional Gerbera drone, which served as a carrier for FPV drones, were found.
Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, an expert in military radio technology and an advisor to Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, reported on this.
The FPV drone itself was not found at the crash site. According to Flash, it could have been either an attack or a reconnaissance drone. Thanks to this solution, the invaders can deliver kamikaze drones over much greater distances without wasting their battery power during flight.
The Gerbera drone has a foam body, which makes it easy to manufacture and launch. Russian troops began actively using this model against Ukraine in 2024.

It is used for radio-electronic reconnaissance, as a kamikaze drone, or as a decoy to overload Ukrainian air defense systems.
Previously, the Molniya drone was used as an FPV carrier, but it was not equipped with a repeater. The invaders also used the Orlan reconnaissance UAV for similar tasks, which carried two quadcopter-type drones under its wings.
