Saudi Arabia eyes Ukraine air defense as Kyiv sent more teams to the Gulf | Ukraine Brief

Russian strikes across Ukraine continue to target civilians and infrastructure. On Thursday, Russian forces dropped three guided bombs on the city of Sloviansk in the eastern Donetsk region, killing at least four people and wounding 20 others. In Nikopol, Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Kherson, more people were wounded as attacks also damaged private homes and city infrastructure. As Ukraine’s top negotiator Rustem Umerov traveled to the Middle East with military officials, reports also indicate that a Saudi Arabian arms company has signed a deal to purchase Ukrainian interceptors, with a larger arms deal between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia reportedly in the works. Zelenskyy also confirmed that three air defense teams have been sent to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. A United Nations report confirmed that Russia’s deportation of over 1,200 Ukrainian children constitutes crimes against humanity, with most children yet to be returned and many placed in long-term Russian custody.
