#Skydiver caught on #plane #wing has to cut #parachute

An Australian skydiver had to cut himself free from his parachute after it became snagged on a plane’s wing in mid-air.

The incident prompted the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) to investigate the case.

The aircraft took off from Tully, Australia, on September 20, 2025, with a pilot and 17 people on board, with plans for a 16-way formation jump filmed by a parachuting camera operator.

The ATSB found that "while the first parachutist was climbing out of the roller door, the handle for their reserve parachute snagged on the wing flap, deploying the chute inadvertently." The reserve parachute wrapped around the tailplane, leaving the skydiver dangling at 4,500 meters.

Thanks to his quick thinking, he was able to cut himself free and then release the main parachute. The skydiver then landed safely, having sustained minor injuries during the accident.
