Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Security Service of Ukraine has been systematically identifying Russian agents in the ranks of the Defense Forces and eliminating enemy schemes; 52 active military personnel have been found to be agents of the Russian Federation, 44 traitors have already received prison sentences, the SBU press service reports . The SBU Military Counterintelligence Department, together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, continues to actively work to protect national security. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine , the DVKR employees alone have identified 207 agents of the Russian special services who collected information about the troops and military facilities of Ukraine, including 52 active servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 44 traitors have already been sentenced to terms of 12 to 15 years , including the former commander of the Special Operations Forces unit, who transmitted the plans of operations of Ukrainian special forces to the occupiers. In the fall of 2024, the SBU detained an agent of the Russian Federation and seized the means of secret communication with a Russian curator from the GRU. In 2025, counterintelligence eliminated three enemy networks , including an agent network in Zaporozhye, where the network was headed by a mobilized serviceman and the rector of the local UOC church, who adjusted Russian airstrikes and recruited new agents. In the Odessa region, four FSB agents were detained along with a resident of the group, who were adjusting strikes on warehouses with weapons and ammunition. A 38-year-old informant who collected coordinates for missile and drone attacks on airfields with combat helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been arrested in Lviv region . In addition to combating agents, the SBU prevented the theft of more than UAH 44 billion in the defense sector, blocked 114 schemes to evade mobilization, and stopped 222 cases of illegal arms trafficking .
The SBU’s Far Eastern Military District employees also conduct special operations behind enemy lines and participate in combat operations on the front line. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, they have destroyed 219 Russian tanks, 358 armored vehicles, 318 artillery systems and 73 electronic warfare systems. The SBU continues its comprehensive work to identify and punish all those responsible, protecting national security and strengthening Ukraine’s defense capability.
