A strong fire has broken out at the Pravoberezhny market in Russia’s St. Petersburg, local Telegram channels reported. The fire, which covered an area of 1,500 square meters, was initially attributed to an electrical wiring malfunction. The explosion of gas cylinders stored in the shops also contributed to the spread of the blaze at the market, which contains around 200 commercial units. One person is reported to have died in the incident. Firefighters and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. According to the information, the market administration had been warned a few months earlier about violations of fire safety regulations.
