U.S. President Donald Trump said he may order the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to be deployed near Cuba’s coast.
He made the remark during a speech at the Palm Beach Forum Club in Florida, according to FOX News.
Trump said he would ask military commanders to position the ship about 100 yards from the island.
“We’ll bring it in, have it stop roughly 100 yards off the shore, and they’ll say, ‘Thank you very much, we surrender,’” he said.
He also noted that the USS Abraham Lincoln is currently operating in the Persian Gulf as part of a joint U.S.–Israel mission against Iran.
He described the vessel as one of the largest in the world and noted that it could pass by Cuba on its return route.
So far, neither Donald Trump nor the White House has provided official clarification on whether his remarks in Palm Beach about a potential operation near Cuba reflect a real plan or were made in jest.
The politician has repeatedly threatened the island with invasion since the start of his presidency.
In January 2026, Trump declared a state of emergency regarding Cuba and introduced a mechanism of secondary sanctions (tariffs) against countries that supply oil to the island.
On May 1, Trump signed an order to further tighten restrictions on Cuba.

On April 13, speaking at the White House, Donald Trump said the United States could consider action against Cuba after the conflict with Iran ends. He stressed that he has the authority to take any measures necessary to establish control over the island in any form.
