Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, the IRGS, also known as SEPAH, has shared an AI-generated video depicting an attack on the USS Abraham Lincoln navy ship and its destruction in the Arabian Sea. The video claims that Iranian submarines and hypersonic missiles are already positioned for a fatal strike. The dramatized video, released by the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization, depicts the use of drones, speed attack boats, missile systems and submarines. It also depicts a combination of hypersonic missiles and hidden submarines destroying the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. No official statement has been issued by the Iranian officials on whether the video reflects an official position. The video came amid rising regional tensions and speculations of imminent attack on Iran. Although US defense officials downplay the videos as propaganda, Iran’s leadership is leveraging the footage to suggest that all American assets in the region are within striking distance. USS Abraham Lincoln is part of the “massive armada” that the US President Donald Trump sent to the Middle East near Iranian waters last month to reinforce American influence and protect strategic interests in the region. The Lincoln was accompanied by three Arleigh Burke–class guided-missile destroyers – USS Spruance, USS Michael Murphy, and USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. -each capable of deploying Tomahawk missiles. The carrier’s embarked air wing features F-35C fighter aircraft.
