Satellite images of the consequences of the recent attack on the port in Tuapse have appeared online. It is reported that at least two hits occurred on the pipeline of the Transneft oil terminal. Damage to the oil tanker was also recorded.
Remind you that this object is one of the main export terminals in the south of the Russian Federation, ensuring the shipment of oil through the Black Sea. The capacity of the terminal is up to 7 million tons per year.
A statement published on the official Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces inflicted "fire damage" on the infrastructure of the Russian port of Tuapse, as well as oil refineries and loading facilities.
According to Ukrainian military officials, the oil-loading infrastructure of Russia’s federal commercial seaport, located on the Black Sea coast in Tuapse Bay, was damaged.
Earlier, a Ukrainian media source stated that SBU special forces were involved in the drone attack on the port on November 1.
The marine export terminal in Tuapse belongs to the Rosneft company.
The nighttime attack on a tanker and loading infrastructure at the port of Tuapse on the Black Sea in Krasnodar Krai was carried out by drones from the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center in cooperation with other security and defense forces, Ukrainian media reported, citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to intelligence sources, five drone strikes were recorded, resulting in a tanker catching fire and at least four oil handling equipment used to load and unload tankers being disabled. Port buildings were also damaged.
According to sources, the port of Tuapse is home to an oil terminal and an oil refinery owned by Rosneft.
The Krasnodar Krai task force previously reported a strike on the port and terminal. According to them, two foreign civilian vessels were also damaged in the drone attack.
The attack on the Tuapse oil terminal will have "long-term consequences" for Russia, seriously impacting oil exports and undermining companies’ trust in Russian ports, according to Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmitry Pletenchuk. According to him, the impact will affect not only the technological supply chains, but also the business activities of the companies using these facilities.
A spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy noted that these ports are of strategic importance to Russia, handling up to 20% of crude oil exports. At least three ships were loading at the time of the attack on the Tuapse terminal, Pletenchuk stated.
