Turkish state-owned company MKE has introduced the wheeled URAN self-propelled howitzer — a 105 mm BORAN howitzer integrated on an SUV chassis.
This was reported by Defence Blog.
The system was demonstrated ahead of the SAHA 2026 defense exhibition. According to the manufacturer, URAN has a rate of fire of 10-12 rounds per minute.
The effective firing range is up to 18 km. The system is equipped with hydraulic supports and an advanced stabilization system, ensuring platform stability on different types of terrain.
MKE positions URAN as part of the BORAN family and highlights the export potential of this line, which it describes as one of Turkey’s most successful howitzer solutions on foreign markets.

Conceptually, the system is an analogue of the U.S. Hawkeye — a 105 mm M20 howitzer mounted on the chassis of the HMMWV M1152 off-road vehicle, reflecting a broader trend toward light mobile artillery platforms.
BORAN
The BORAN howitzer has been in service with the Turkish army since 2021. It has a 105 mm caliber, a barrel length of 30 calibers and a total weight of 1,745 kg, including the fire control system.
For comparison, the U.S. L119 howitzer has a greater weight of 1,858 kg.
The deployment time of the Turkish howitzer is less than one minute. The crew consists of five personnel.

In addition to the Turkish army, it is also in service with North Macedonia and Bangladesh.
