Ukrainian Special Operations Forces struck storage and launch sites for Shahed-class drones at Cape Chauda in Russian-annexed Crimea. Krym.Realii investigated where else Russian attack drone launch sites are located on the Crimean Peninsula and whether they have been attacked.
Recall, on the night of November 28, Ukrainian Armed Forces special operations forces struck a storage and launch area for Shahed-type attack UAVs near Cape Chauda in annexed Crimea.
"The enemy is constantly using the designated territory in southern Crimea to launch various types of attack UAVs against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Special Operations Forces continue to undertake asymmetrical actions to undermine the offensive capabilities of the Russian army," the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces Telegram channel reported. The “Krymskiy Veter” Telegram channel reported explosions heard in Feodosia late in the evening of November 27.
Cape Chauda is an uninhabited area; the nearest villages from the supposed launch and storage site of the "shahids" are located at a distance of 15 kilometers or more. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported strikes on the Russian military airfield "Saki" near the village of Novofedorovka in Crimea. According to the Ukrainian military, a UAV storage site at an airfield was attacked, as well as several Russian air defense facilities, in particular the Pantsir-S1 and TOR-M2 systems.
"After suppressing enemy air defenses, a hangar housing enemy Orion and Forpost drones was destroyed. The Ukrainian Defense Forces also struck an enemy command and control center and a KamAZ military truck. The extent of the damage is being determined," the statement reads . Both of these drones are reconnaissance and strike drones, but are more often used for reconnaissance in the Nikolaev and Odessa directions, as well as for relaying guidance signals for the Shahed, Geran, and other strike UAVs.
Orion drone depots were also attacked at the Russian military airfield in Kirovskoye. Ukrainian troops from the 14th Separate Regiment of the 1st Separate Center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces released footage of strikes on the airbase on the night of November 13. Later, the Ukrainian project Dnipro Osint reported damage to the Kirovskoye airfield revealed in satellite imagery. According to the report, "destroyed operator property and a charred area near the hangar are visible near the hangar." In August, the Ukrainian Navy announced a strike on a drone base at the Khersones airfield in Sevastopol. According to the statement, three Mohajer-6 UAVs and two Forpost UAVs were destroyed in the strike.
