On June 14, Ukraine’s 225th Separate Assault Regiment liberated Andriyivka in Sumy Oblast after ten days of Russian occupation. By June 22, all Russian troops were cleared out, allowing Ukraine to regain critical territory near the Russian border and shift focus to the nearby village of Yunakivka, just 4 miles from Russia.
Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi reports that Ukrainian forces have advanced 200–700 meters in several frontline zones, aiming to reduce Russia’s buffer zone. With Brigadier General Oleh Apostol now leading the region’s defense, Ukrainian units are preparing for intensified conflict as they attempt to reclaim Yunakivka and halt Russia’s Sumy offensive.
